The Devils Throat Cave is very interesting, and it is worth the visit. However, although the road leading to the cave has been resurfaced and is in great condition, it may not be so easy to drive on in snowy or icy conditions. We recommend checking with the cave office prior to arrival to ensure that it is open. We advise you not to go there in the winter unless it is an organized trip with a guide.
The location of the Rhodopes in the south-eastern part of the Balkan Peninsula is key to determining the region’s climate.
